Hi! I’m Basi. I’m a wife and mom of two awesome girls. My honey and I have been married almost 17 years. Mark is from the Pacific Northwest and I’m a Miami girl. Thanks to him I discovered Starbuck’s and a love for being outdoors together. As a family we like cooking and eating meals, sometimes using our SunOven. We enjoy Florida camping and recently started a vegetable garden in our backyard. When I’m not with the family I enjoy writing and “my shows” (Downton Abby, Mad Men,and others). I am also a certified health educator and work part-time for our local health department.
I never (ever!) planned on homeschooling, but here we are. This is our first year of homeschooling (2014-2015). We only homeschool our youngest, who is a struggling, special needs learner, because we felt our public school was not up to the task. Our oldest child attends public school and will be starting high school this fall. Our daughter, Kate, is a brain tumor survivor. We always knew that learning disabilities would be a part of her life after receiving radiation and other treatments. We are blessed to still be a family of four. Believe me, we know how lucky we are.
We are still learning a lot and figuring out what we are doing as a homeschooling family. My hope for this blog is that by sharing our adventures we we could help others, especially parents whose children are struggling with learning for any reason.
Thank you for taking the time to read our blog!
